Boston Globe Reports, "Advocates Seek to Keep School lunch Free"

In the News

We are thrilled to share that on the front page of the Saturday, March 26, 2022 Boston Globe, was an article featuring the efforts of our campaign to make free school meals permanent in Massachusetts!

Quoted in the article, were Feed Kids Coalition members and leaders, including Erin McAleer of Project Bread, Rob Leshin, Director of Food and Nutrition Programs for the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Plymouth Food Service Director,  Patrick Van Cott, and bill cosponsor Representative Andy Vargas.

The article leads with a strong and clear message from Project Bread's President & CEO, Erin McAleer on why it is imperative to fund school lunch:

“We want Massachusetts to be among the states that say, ‘This is one of the lessons we learned from the pandemic.' This has been a lifeline for families, and research shows the health and academic benefits.”
